I planned to be a rover for the 222 MHz and up contest and for the fall VHF contest. I likely will not make the fall VHF contest. My mother developed a cancer in 2023 and it recently ended her life. My wife and I have been making many trips to Tulsa and now we are working on her estate.
I am very thankful to the RNs and Techs from Good Shepherd Hospice. They were very helpful to mom and always explained to me things to watch for as she progressed. They explained the different stages and helped me prepare myself for what was to come. I was also very thankful to my employer who told me “do whatever you need to do, don’t worry about work”. This allowed me to help mom and allow her to spend her last few weeks at home instead of a hospital. We were there holding her hand and telling her not to worry when her heart stopped and she ultimately slipped away. The end came so fast.. just days before she had me setup her 10-key so she could balance her checkbook and she asked my wife to call the hospital because they over billed her. Maybe I should put her 10-key and new tablet of green accounting sheets in the vault with her.
Here is a photo of mom (green) with her brother John from the late 80’s or early 90’s.
We love you mom and John. We miss you both.
